Spring has Sprung Tutoring Session

Available 3/21, 3/26, 3/27, 3/30

Our Sensory Farm

Service Description

Learners will investigate and discuss changing seasons and the Spring Equinox. We will then search for and record signs of Spring as we explore the farm and the forest. We will also talk about why it is important to nurture nature and look for examples of important relationships between us and our environment. We will note that even the biggest trees in the forest began their journey as a small seed. This will lead us to our main activity in which learners will explore the needs and life cycle of a flowering plant. We will plant our own seeds to nurture in a mini take home garden. We will also enjoy a short book read aloud during Story Time as we gather for lunch. Learners will have a chance to participate in a casual discussion in which we will share ideas, answer questions, and make connections related to the theme of the story. Learners will also be given an opportunity at the end of our session to reflect, record, note, doodle, remember, and share as we create entries in Farmventure Journals. Activities, instruction, and level of support will be differentiated to meet the needs of individual learners. During this tutoring session, learners will have opportunities for practice and progress in the following areas: Planning - analyzing the steps to complete the task Organization - keeping belongings neat and accessible Task Initiation - making use of time effectively Attention - working until completion Metacognition - self-reflection Working Memory - following multi-step directions Self-Control - making safe choices Flexibility - transitioning between activities Perseverance - turn-taking
